Testimonials

"The NETN has helped the community in many ways. It goes out and goes out into the schools and helps to make changes in campus life so student could feel safe in there own school. That means they learn better and they get the most out of their education. It also builds skills in students that they never thought they could do with officer positions and skill building classes as well. Which builds confidence. I was president for a couple and that built leadership skills that I will be using forever. I really got to understand when to take charge and when to "step down" so that others could learn from experience because in some ways that’s the only way some things can be learned. When we went to the conferences they really brought me out of my comfort zone and helped me to grow as a person. I learned how to listen to wisdom and work w other people that I have never meet before. I was also involved with the safe school ambassador program. I got to see that sometimes kids have to grow up faster not by choice but because they have to. But they are not alone because somewhere someone in their school someone is going threw that exact same thing. Were all really the same we want to be accepted and just because we dress a certain way and are in a certain sport, group, or club there is no reason why we cant be friends and get along with one another. I also got to learn how to film and edit videos. I made a couple DVDs for different organizations I am going to be using those skills for future projects I have. Over all it tough me to care for the community I live in. If I’m going to live in a community I want to help it and take care of it. And no matter what your age is you can make a difference and you don’t have to fall into a mold of what people think u should be. All these things I will use for the rest of my life. Have learned these things and so much, so much more. And I have the Teen NETWORK to thank for it. The NETN goes into the places where people normally don’t go and where people that don’t seem to need help get it. That is needed not only in El Paso but all over the world. It’s rare to find a program, like the NETN, that cares so much in making a change for the better in their community." - Isai Contreras – Former Youth Leadership Council President

"Mainly because it keeps me busy and occupied, I get to meet new people and go to new places. It makes me feel like I’m apart of something. Once you go to one meeting you’re hooked!!!" - Ashley Valerio – YLC President

"One of the reasons I like being apart of the Teen NETWORK is because it helps me out alot with life it gives us activities to do also is really fun!!!!!" - Vanessa Burchett – YLC Member

"I enjoy being a part of the Northeast NETWORK because it allows me to better my community while having fun. I can develop social skills and professional skills as well as earn my community service hours needed for NHS." - Victoria Hengst – YLC Sergeant at Arms
